Whats The Best Portable Pedicure Foot Rest For My Mobile Business

Whats The Best Portable Pedicure Foot Rest For My Mobile Business?

Buying A Portable pedicure foot rest that is versatile for your business can be a little challenging and also depending your needs for the stool you have to do some good research before purchasing one.
What do you need the portable pedicure foot rest for?
Do you run a mobile pedicure / manicure business and want a light weight foot stool that you can carry with you in and out of patients homes.
Or maybe you own a manicure salon and want to offer pedicures but do not have the space for large reclining pedicure chairs but want a foot rest that looks professional but one you can store away in the salon when it is  not being used.
I Run a Mobile Foot Health Practice and I visit my customers at home offering full Chiropody services including toenail trimming , callus removal etc.
When i first went mobile i purchased a large see saw like mobile stool and foot rest that was so clumsy and having to carry and after the second one snapped after 18 months it just wasn't practical.
It was then i started research into smaller light weight foot rests.
What was very important to me was that although i needed the foot rest to be a efficient piece of equipment but it also had to look the part and look professional.

The 5 Most Important Factors Of A Foot Rest I Believe Are:

  • Is it heavy duty? Will it last being folded up and down 10-20 times a day?
  • How heavy is the foot rest if you are carrying it around all day?
  • What is the foot rest cushion made of? As a lot of use will often cause tears in the plastic covers.
  • Does the Foot rest adjustable, can it be raised and lowered depending on your stool and customer chair?  So you don't get back ache.
  •
  • Is it Practical.

Is it Heavy Duty

A Portable Pedicure Foot Rest is going to have to be strong and resilient on a daily basis.  I Use mine 75% of my working day, the other 25% customers have reclining armchairs.
So a poorly engineered foot rest is not going to work for me! I have tried the cheaper foot rest models out there and after 4 months they start falling apart, especially the adjustable lever that raises the height of the foot rest.

Make sure its light weight

I personally alway choose a 1KG weight portable pedicure foot rest as that is a good weight for me as i juggle a stool i sit on and a chiropody bag.
But if you are buying a foot rest for your salon or clinic i would recommend you go for a 2-3KG one as the lighter ones can be knocked over easily where the heavier ones are more grounded.

What is the foot rests cushion made of?

Is the cushion where the feet will rest a high quality material and is it chemical resistant?
Most are made of a synthetic leather material that can be wiped down easily.
The Cushion will get a lot of use and the most common problem i have found is that they begin to get cracks and then split, which is un hygienic and looks taty and unprofessional.
You can also purchase medical disposable socks to get longer usage out of the portable pedicure foot rest.
These fit over the cushion of the foot rest, i have used these and changed the cover for each patient!.

Is the Height Of The Foot Rest Adjustable?

This is the most annoying factor i have found with portable foot rests!
Being mobile every customer sits on a different chair and each chairs height is not the same.
Also some customers cannot lift their legs that high especially after knee or hip surgery or maybe they are arthritic.
And i find this factor really frustrating as all the footstools i have personally purchased in the UK only go higher not lower!.
So making sure the foot rest you purchase is a adjustable is very important.  What chairs will your customers be sitting in? Are they adjustable too.
Its really a comfort thing and if your customers are not happy and feel relaxed whilst they have their treatment they might not rebook your service!.
One last thought is also think of yourself too! Is the foot rest going to be at a good working height for you too? The last thing you need is a repetitive strain to your back as you will be off work for ages and not earning money!.

Is it Practical?

Will it do the job you need to do? will it fold up and take little space in your salon or clinic when not being used?
Is it steady enough so it will take your customers leg weight, does it look professional, etc.
Its not good buying a too heavy portable foot rest especially if you are moving from job to job , it will be a burden to carry and become a nuisance.

My Recommendations

1: Hadewe Domiciliary Foot Rest
(UK AND EUROPE ONLY)

portable pedicure foot rest
I have had 3 Hadewe domiciliary foot rest so far ! This foot rest covers all my requirements.
  • Light weight.
  • Comes with carry case/ bag (many are extra to buy).
  • Strong durable part leather covered cushion.
  • Adjustable
  • Pratical and looks professional.
The only flaw with this foot rest is the height adjustment! it goes up but not down.   Occasionally the deals come with out the bag.
Apart from that i love it.   Bargains are to be found and i have paid between £75 and £90 for one of these foot rests.
I usually get 8-10 months usage out of one which i believe is good value as i use it every day and normally 8-12 times a day.
Make sure you get or purchase a bag as the foot rest is then well protected and also looks the business when you go into your jobs.
Perfect for a mobile business 9/10  but not so suitable for a clinic or salon.

2: Kayline Portable Pedicure Footrest

  • Portable Foot rest
  • Light weight
  • Platinum legs
  • Adjustable height controller 15 inches -21 Inches
  • weight 9 pounds
Customer feedback on Amazon is that the drawbacks to the Kayline foot rest is the foot cushion where the foot sits can spin easily if the customer is not keeping still. Its very light weight and for around $89 a good price if you are on budget, no carry case is included on this product.

Lightweight portable foot rest , can be unstable and the foot rest may move 6/10 rating.

3: Amdirect Hot Salon Spa Adjustable Foot Rest Stool / multi purpose manicure and pedicure

This is my "Hot Pick"
This stool looks solid and salon professional and would suit a mobile pedicure therapist or a salon based one.
Two things i love about it is :
The Price - Under $50
Thick and comfortable cushion
  • Adjustable height 44-66 cm 17.2-325 inches
  • Thick cushion on foot rest
  • Multi purpose stool can be used for pedicures and manicures
  • Lightweight and portable
The Amdirect Salon Footrest is my choice for a professional foot stool.  I would be comfortable using it in my mobile business and its looks solid and ideal for salon use as it can be neatly placed out of the way when not in use.
Another big plus it can be raised so you can use it as a manicure stool too so if you are a therapist who others both its the prefect tool for your business.

4: Dina Meri Salon Pedi & Manicure Nail stool station

Now I'm based in the UK and if I lived in the USA i would be buying one of these stool stations in seconds!
I love the look of it it looks so cool and very comfortable for the customer and the user.
No good for a mobile business but for a salon it would like fabulous.
Price range they start at around $128, it has two assorted trays and drawers, solid thick foot rest.
  • Weight 19lbs
  • Dimensions 16 " x 20" 18" W D H
  • ABS Plastic non scratch cover
  • Plenty of storage space for salon equipment
The station is on wheels which do not lock! so care may be needed to prevent to station from moving but i guess when you and the customers foot is in place the station will be pretty solid to the ground.
Although i would say this product is more of a salon based one it is not overly heavy and will fit into a trunk of most cars.
Customer feedback all says to be careful that the station does not tip when in use, but i guess you will work this out with daily use.
