Nail abnormalities -What causes beau Lines in toenails Deep Grooves across nails

If your toe or finger nails have deep grooves running across the nails this condition is called Beau Lines.

Causes of Beau Lines

An old or existing illness
Chemotherapy
Exposure to extreme cold temperatures
Raynauds disease (poor circulation)
Injury or damage to the nails

Trauma, or illness and very cold temperatures can all be the cause if Beau Lines and the nails growth will be stunted and when this occurs deep grooves will form from the nail base of the nail.

Normally after 6months the nails will grow the deep grooves out but this depends on the original cause, to assist health nail growth it is a good idea to regularly trim the nails to encourage nail growth and apply a nail fluid which will help restore the nails back to their healthy pink appearance and also prevent fungal infections, brittle and split nails.
